by Johann Steinarsson The music is adapted from the Animaniacs' "Magellan" song. There once was a lad by the name of Sweet Gerald,
A lover of dogs and a craftsman of fame.
He lived with his doggies in peace and contentment
Till along came a villain, Fernando by name.
He summoned his OAFs and laid siege to poor Gerald,
Snatched up those doggies and whisked them away
Well that broke the heart and the mind of poor Gerald
And Captain Gack Goodrum was born on that day!
CHORUS: Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, Captain Gack Goodrum!
Mess with his pets and you'd better beware!
Whoopie-ti-yi-yo, take heart, Captain Goodrum,
You'll find your dear doggies, you just don't know where!
With hammer and tongs and a pinch of dark magic,
Goodrum set forth to rebuild his Machine,
And with the sun's rising, he'd rebuilt it into
The finest sea vessel you ever had seen.
He hired a fair lass by the name of Francisca,
With sword in her hand and a fire in her eyes.
Together they summoned a pack of fine sea-wolves;
Their mission, to bring Count Fernando's demise!
Chorus
And so he set forth to the shores of Lake Smithville
And brought his sea vessel right up to the beach,
With sword and with hammer he sought Count Fernando
But that wily fellow was just beyond reach.
Fernando and OAFs were nowhere to be spotted,
No trace to be found of that miserable wretch,
Turns out, he had sailed to far distant Europe,
The dogs he brought with, just so he could play Fetch.
Chorus
So since that day fateful he sails the dark waters,
His sword and his hammer kept tight at his side,
Throughout day and night he pursues Count Fernando
To hopefully settle the blow to his pride.
One day, Gack will find him and face him in battle,
Then crush him to pieces to settle the score,
He'll find his dear doggies and bring them to safety,
And that's when Sweet Gerald will come home once more.
Chorus
[At Lilies 31, Gerald Goodwinehosted a pirate party and challenged the populace to come up with an origin song or story about how he became "Captain Gack Goodrum".]
